id Software will share the release date of DOOM Eternal for Switch “Pretty Soon”

DOOM Eternal

A highly successful third-party title that has yet to hit Switch is DOOM Eternal. This latest entry in the hellish series of demon killings has been available on other consoles since March 20, so what’s going on with the Nintendo port?

Id Software executive producer Marty Statton previously mentioned how surprised he was with this particular release and said so I would not do it It will be a long delay, but it is true that we are beginning to worry a little. Fortunately, he provided Nintendo fans with a brief update during a recent panel on Gamelab Live 2020. The plan is to set a release date “very soon” for the Switch.

Here’s the transcript, courtesy of Nintendo Everything:

We will talk about the release date very soon. We haven’t announced it yet, I can’t do it now. It has really made great progress. Panic Button, the studio we work with on that, as I said before, are masters of the platform. … we launched Doom Eternal on the same platforms that we launched Doom 2016, and I thought it was a real feather in the cap of our technology team, and I think this will be the same for Panic Button and our engine team because it starts with their core that is transmitted and optimization that is performed. I think it will be as good as Doom 2016 was, and I am very excited that people understand it.

He added that Doom Eternal would be “another step” with the Switch and assured everyone interested in this version that the game would be the complete experience:

We are not really diluting it at all. People can expect the full experience.
