“Two comedians who are having fun with each other,” Vergara, 48, forced Friday. “I was never a victim guys, I was always kidding.”

Earlier this week, a video editing circulates and shows the host that the Colombian-American actress placed in several episodes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“So, I did a Spanish word of the day,” DeGeneres said in 2017. “So I thought I would teach you an English word.” Then, in 2018, the 62-year-old remarked, “You’ve been on this show for 10 years and your accent has diminished. How is that possible?” And in a 2015 clip, DeGeneres Vergara recounted, “Your English has gotten better, I have to say … I understand you.”

On Friday, the America’s Got Talent judge demonstrated the couple’s chemistry by tweeting a 2015 interview. In it, the two bright claws alternate over Vergara’s accent and DeGeneres’ age and fame.

It’s been a rough time for DeGeneres, whose TV-year-old television series came under fire after July 2. BuzzFeed reports suspected racism and sexual harassment, according to current and former employees who spoke anonymously. The first story contained accounts of a Black employee who said she had experienced racist “microaggressions”, as well as comments about her hair. Employees also said they were instructed not to address DeGeneres in person and were fired for taking medical leave or attending funerals.

In response to the article, producers Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner told BuzzFeed, “… For the record, the day – to – day responsibility of the Ellen show is entirely on us. We take all this very seriously and we realize, as many in the world learn, that we need to do better. committed to doing better, and we will do better. “

The second report included multiple instances of sexual abuse and harassment of Glavin and producers Jonathan Norman and Kevin Leman, who “parted ways” in August after a Warner Bros. studio investigation. Norman and Leman refused the BuzzFeed accusations while Glavin did not respond BuzzFeed for comment.

On July 30th The Hollywood Reporter received a letter DeGeneres wrote to her staff, apologizing for the abuse. “Everyone who knows me knows that it is the opposite of what I believe and what I hope for on our show,” she wrote. DeGeneres also claimed that colleagues “misrepresented who I am” writing, “as someone who was judged and lost almost everything for just being who I am, I truly understand and have deep compassion for those who are otherwise be seen, or treated unfairly, not equal, or – worse – ignored. To think that one of you felt this way is horrible to me. ‘In 1997, DeGeneres appeared gay on her naming sitcom, for which she suffered backlog.

Social media blamed DeGeneres for ignoring the proven abuse and a march Twitter thread Calling DeGeneres “notorious one of the meanest people lives” did not help her image.

Celebrities Ashton Kutcher, Katy Perry, Diane Keaton and Kevin Hart defended DeGeneres, along with Portia de Rossi, her 8-year-old wife. However, stars like Everyone loves Raymond‘s Brad Garrett en Back to the future‘s Lea Thompson openly disagree. And the show’s past and present DJs took opposite sides in the debate.

The talk show has brought the production back over time and according to Variation, at a meeting this week, producers announced additional benefits from employees such as leave and medical leave. An emotional DeGeneres apologized to the staff for abuse “on her watch” and said the controversy “broke her brain.”
