Hunter asks about a possible special adviser to investigate Biden after Trump’s resignation

A report says President Trump is talking to advisers about seeking a special adviser to appoint President-elect Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden to continue the investigation.

The news, reported by the Associated Press, comes in the coming days in Trump’s office and raises questions about how the Biden administration will run the Justice Department’s ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden. The president-elect has been dumbfounded by repeated questions about his son’s investigation since it was unveiled this month.

Hunter Biden said in a statement last week that U.S. The Attorney’s Office is investigating his “tax matters” and is taking the matter “very seriously” and is “confident” he has handled his affairs “legally and properly.”

According to the Associated Press, Trump spoke with White House Counsel Pat Pete Ciplon and Chief of Staff Mark Meadows about whether they should appoint incoming Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen as a special adviser on the issue. Trump said earlier this week that Attorney General William Barrow has been leaving the department since Rosen took over the Justice Department.

The president said in a tweet that his relationship with Burr has been “very good.” But the resignation came on the heels of Trump, who lamented that Hunter Biden’s investigation had not been made public before the presidential election.

While it is not clear whether Rosen will agree with Trump, special advice about Hunter Biden is guaranteed. According to the Associated Press, Trump will not appoint Rosen as a special adviser and will replace him with someone who is likely to be fired – although no final decision has been made.

The White House did not immediately return a request for comment from Fox News.

The younger Biden has been under intense scrutiny in the past year for his role on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings, while his father as vice president has sued Ukraine over the issue. Was in charge of the policy. He was impeached last year after Trump withheld US aid to Ukraine on the condition that the country investigate Biden and Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden’s other business dealings, including in China, and his father’s alleged role in them are also under investigation.

The transition teams for Biden and vice-president-elect Kamala Harris addressed the investigation into Biden’s son in a statement last week.

“President-elect Biden is proud of his son, who has faced difficult challenges in recent months, including vicious personal attacks, just to be strong.”

“I’m proud of my son.”

The special adviser appointed to investigate Hunter Biden will add to the list of high profile special adviser investigations in recent years. The most notable is former special adviser Robert Mueller, who investigated Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and whether the Trump campaign was linked to the Russian government. The investigation was alleged to have no direct connection to such alleged conspiracy, but successfully prosecuted numerous of Trump’s associates for other crimes.

In a 2016 investigation into Trump’s involvement with the Russian government, the FBI appointed John Durham, a U.S. attorney, as its special adviser to continue the investigation into the alleged misconduct and misconduct. That appointment essentially ensures that Durham, whose findings are highly anticipated by Republicans, will continue his work even after Biden takes office.

Over the years, the FBI has been in control of Russia’s investigations, leading to a series of investigations and hearings in Congress. But Democrats have publicly worried that Durham’s investigation is overly political.

Dr. Counsel Rahm’s appointment as special adviser was also not announced before the presidential election, although it happened in October.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, meanwhile, has said he will continue the congressional investigation into Hunter Biden, despite his findings.

“Based on all the facts known to date, Biden has a lot to explain,” Grassley said in a floor comment this week. “I learned a lesson a long time ago when I first focused my observations and that is: no matter how hard it is to find the facts in the media or on the other side of the wing – never give up, work hard. American taxpayers deserve nothing. Not less. “
