In the morning we can take street courses for a total of five hours from Szabolcs Hajdu and Ildiko Enyedik, for example.

There is growing resistance from students and professors to the erosion of the autonomy of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) due to the government’s decision to continue the university as a foundation under Attila Vidnyánszky. More and more world-famous artists are joining the solidarity movement around SZFE, but the Vidnyánszky family is not expanding. You can follow the latest developments in the SZFE scandal in our article series.

The students of the University of Theater and Cinematographic Arts once again organize a demonstration on Sunday: on Sunday morning between 10.00 and 15.00 they wait for those interested in the building on Vas Street who want to fill the immediate area of “Honorary students.”

According to student announcements, only citizens of the university can still enter the building, while courses and lectures will move to “the freest street in Hungary”.

A program:

  • breakfast on community grounds
  • Szabolcs Hajdu has an improv practice
  • Tamás Ascher speaks in the parking lot
  • Ildikó Enyedi teaches in front of the building
  • Interactive puppet show

The students said they still had not received a meaningful response to their demands announced two weeks ago from the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, which they considered legitimate. Meanwhile, the newly appointed head of the board of directors, Attila Vidnyánszky, highlighted in an interview that he believed that Amnesty International had prepared the students for the demonstrations at the summer camp.

In connection with the unusual demonstration, it was stressed that everyone should try to wear a mask and keep their distance as much as possible.

The former editorial office of index.hu has essentially ceased to exist, the country has lost its most read online interface. This is one of the most serious blows to the independent Hungarian press and freedom of information to date. The number of independent power editorial boards is steadily declining, and those that still exist are trying to stay afloat in a growing headwind. At HVG, we persevere, not giving in to pressure to bring in national and international news every day.

That is why we ask you, our readers, to support us, support us, join our membership and renew it!

And we promise to keep doing our best for you in all circumstances!

Our little town became the series of the year, several winners spoke about the SZFE issue at the gala.
