The employer and the strike committee will begin negotiations on Wednesday.

There is growing resistance from students and professors to the erosion of the autonomy of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) due to the government’s decision to continue the university as a foundation under Attila Vidnyánszky. More and more world-famous artists are joining the solidarity movement around SZFE, but the Vidnyánszky family is not expanding. The management and citizens of the University of Theater and Cinematographic Arts held a press conference on Monday afternoon in front of the building on Vas Street, where it was announced that

The consultation between the vice-chancellor and chancellor of the SZFE, as a businessman, and the strike commission representing the SZFE employees will begin on Wednesday morning, September 23. The negotiations will then take a total of seven days. If strike demands are not met or an agreement cannot be reached, SZFE employees will go on strike as of October 1.

As is known, SZFE employees announced on September 10 that they had submitted their strike claims to the government.

Then it was written that the Memorandum of Association and SZMSZ imposed on them by the new maintainer of the foundation violate not only the autonomy of the university but also the interests of the employees, for which the workers join the fight for autonomy through a strike.

A strike committee made up of the following members was delegated to negotiate with the government:

  • Kata Csató, Master Instructor
  • Péter Forgács, associate professor
  • György Karsai, Professor, Director of the Doctoral School
  • Gábor Németh, associate professor
  • Judit Veszprém, communication manager

Although the strike claims should have been presented to the employer, a special situation developed at the SZFE, as the strike committee was neither László Upor nor Dr. Lajos Vonderviszt asked for things from his competence. Therefore, the complaints were first presented to the Ministry, however, they received a letter from there stating that the case did not belong to them. Therefore, the strike committee has now turned to the employer, who will refer the claims to the maintenance board.
