The pastor sent a message to protesting students and teachers, feel free to use the infrastructure of John Wesley Pastoral Training College and enjoy their hospitality.

There is growing resistance from students and professors to the erosion of the autonomy of the University of Theater and Film Arts (SZFE) due to the government’s decision to continue the university as a foundation under Attila Vidnyánszky. More and more world-famous artists are joining the solidarity movement around SZFE, but the Vidnyánszky family is not expanding. You can follow the latest news from the SZFE scandal in our series of articles.

Gábor Iványi wrote a letter to László Upor, outgoing rector of the University of Theater and Film Arts, and to György Karsai and György Gábor. In the letter, he writes that they look with respect, compassion and love at the struggle they are waging mainly to maintain the autonomy of the SZFE, but at the same time, he adds,

it is an example for the whole country and can encourage us to value our rights.

“Thank you for this. We are touched by the unity and loyalty with which you are united, students and teachers. We are happy that the national and international professional world supports you greatly. We ask you to count us as your friends. In consultation with our Senate, which in its August meeting, voted unanimously in favor of the decision for which we are by your side to offer, if the need arises and you do not receive a better offer, accept the modest but real umbrella opportunity that we are offering for a transition period:

  • We still have all the vacancies in our dorm.
  • Our kitchen is still ready to provide 30-40 lunches as requested, but that number can even be increased for all college citizens.
  • Wesley is an accredited higher education institution in Hungary (one of the last independent ones), so teach and come with complete freedom, use our entire infrastructure and enjoy our hospitality. By the way, we also have a college-level education and our doctoral school is ready to go. “

Gábor Iványi asks for and accepts their sincere recognition of friendship and solidarity, with which they accompany them even if they do not claim the aforementioned support.

The number of independent power editorial boards is steadily decreasing, and those that still exist are trying to stay afloat in a growing headwind. At HVG we persevere, we do not give in to pressure and we bring national and international news every day.

That is why we ask you, our readers, to support us, support us, join our membership and renew it.

And we promise to keep doing our best for you in all circumstances!
