The World Health Organization is concerned about the explosive spread of the epidemic in Europe.

Coronavirus – the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the posters, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

The number of people living with coronavirus in Europe is growing exponentially and efforts to combat the pandemic must not be relaxed, said the director of the European Health Organization (WHO) in Copenhagen.

In an interview with AFP, Hans Kluge said: “We must not relax, we must honestly admit that this is going to be a bit of a difficult time.”

The WHO estimates that at least 261,000 lives could be saved in Europe in February if the mask is worn in general and meetings are severely restricted. However, schools should only be closed as a last resort, the principal said, saying there was no reason to say that schools were one of the main sources of infection.

At the same time, Reuters received an internal document from the WHO on how to help poor countries with medicines. In line with this, the World Health Organization currently prefers monoclonal antibody therapy in the experimental phase and a low-cost steroid, dexamethasone. Of the latter, 3 million doses of treatment have already been ordered for poor countries. According to the document, there are no plans to ship remdesivir.
