There are still more recommendations, but non-vital public institutions are already closing.

Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. The first step is a partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

Sweden took stricter measures than ever to curb the coronavirus epidemic, issuing a recommendation to wear masks in public spaces and closing non-vital public institutions.

“We are doing what we have done so far during the pandemic, taking the right measures at the right time. And so it is now,” Prime Minister Stefan Löfven stressed.

Sweden has opted for a solution to the epidemic that has been challenged with relatively loose restrictions. Across the country, the country’s leadership has focused on recommendations and individual responsibility rather than mandatory mask use and quarantine, so schools, shops and restaurants, among others, could remain open.

However, with a severe second wave of the epidemic, Sweden has been forced to tighten restrictions since November.

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven announced on Friday that gyms, libraries and swimming pools, among others, will be closed before January 24. He added that the government now recommends wearing a mask on public transportation during peak hours.

In Sweden, with a population of 10.3 million, some 367,000 people have been registered since the outbreak, of whom nearly 8,000 have died from complications from Covid-19.
