According to the first partial results published by the Central Elections Office, the advantage of the Social Democratic PSD in both the House of Representatives and the Senate is enormous, writes Transindex. With 25.8 percent of the votes in process, the Social Democratic PSD had 30.6 percent in the House of Representatives (24.3 for the now ruling PNL) and 31 (24.7 for the PNL) in the Senate.

With 70 percent throughput, PSD continues to lead, with PSD at 30.26 percent, NLP at 24.76, and Senate at 30.4 and 25.2, respectively. The DAHR is better than expected, gaining more than seven percent. The nationalist AUR also came in with confidence, at nearly 9 percent. The Save the Romania Alliance (RSU), critical to the system, is 13.5 percent in the House of Representatives.

The exit polls showed a closer result. Once the ballot box was closed, both main parties were considered winners. It can also be seen from the partial data that the result is close, a coalition for governance must be formed. Social Democratic President Marcel Ciolacu said on Romanian television Sunday night that he has ruled out a coalition with the current ruling party and hopes that Ludovic Orban will step down as prime minister. Ciolacu hopes to know exactly what proportion of the votes is distributed between the parties.

When asked if Orban could be nominated again as prime minister, Ciolacu said: “God forbid!”

Otherwise, participation was very low, according to experts, due to the epidemic.
