A national curfew will take effect on November 2.

Coronavirus: the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. Already on Saturday a curfew will come into force in the four northern districts most affected by the epidemic in Slovakia, and after November 2 to two weeks it will be valid throughout the country – decided on Thursday the national crisis team in Bratislava .

In a press conference following the meeting, Prime Minister Igor Matovic stated that the measures were aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in Slovakia. To do this, the country’s schools will also be closed from Monday for a month.

The exceptions to the national curfew imposed for two weeks starting November 2 are those that have a recent negative coronavirus test. In the first week it cannot be more than October 30, while in the second week it is November 6.

Under curfew, people can, among other things, visit only the grocery stores or pharmacies closest to where they live.

According to the Minister of Health, Marek Krajcí, the epidemic situation in Slovakia is worse than in the Czech Republic. The head of the ministry also illustrated the statement by comparing the data on the epidemic situation in the two neighboring countries. The crisis team confirmed the government’s decision to evaluate the entire population of the country during the coming weekends.
