Alexei Navalny, the best known Russian opposition, arrived from Berlin to Moscow on Sunday evening. It is not yet known whether the politician will be admitted to Russia or arrested.

The plane should have landed at Vnukovo airport, but at the last minute, the authorities decided to divert the Pobjeda airline flight to Sheremetyevo airport. The reason for the decision was that a large crowd gathered in Vnukovo to receive the opposition politician. The area around Vnukovo has also been closed, the authorities want to prevent Navalny’s followers from crossing into Sheremetyevo.

Before the plane arrived, riot police detained several members of the Navalny-led anti-corruption foundation, including Lyubov Szobolj, who had already been kidnapped by the uniformed officers a few days ago for speaking to an intelligence agent who had faced a telephone conversation with Navalny. the fact of the murder of the August novice.

After the arrest continued, the police expelled those who had gathered in the arrivals building to greet the opposition politician who was returning home from Berlin. The protesters evicted from the building responded to the police action with a shout of “fascists, fascists.” The detention process continued in front of the building, with several police trucks full of detainees. There were reports of arrests in St. Petersburg: activists who wanted to travel to Moscow to be present when Navalny arrived were arrested.

Navalny returned home half a year after being poisoned on August 20 last year, probably by agents of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), with a military neurotox developed in Soviet times, the novices. The opposition leader, poisoned in Tomsk, was treated first in Omsk and then transferred to Berlin, where he was treated at the Charité Hospital. The latter was denounced on the spot, trying to poison the politician with novices.

His arrest threatens him because, according to the competent Russian authorities, Navalny violated the conditions of the conditional prison sentence imposed on him, that is, he was not regularly reported to the police. The politician has previously been convicted of alleged economic crimes.

Russian analysts hope Navalny will not return home “empty-handed” – he has had half a year to prepare new revelations with the help of Western investigative journalists. More recently, he was shocked when speaking on the phone with one of the killers, an FSB agent, who, after some hesitation, acknowledged the fact of the action and revealed more details about the murder of the novices.

One day before Navalny’s return, Berlin handed over to Moscow all the investigative material on the Alexei Navalny poisoning case: medical findings, clothing and confessions. No poisoning procedures were initiated in Russia previously, claiming that there was no indication that they actually wanted to assassinate the opposition leader.
