World: More than 7,000 people have already died in the epidemic in New York State

New York state has more than 7,000 deaths from the new type of coronavirus infection, state Governor Andrew Cuomo said at his daily news conference on Thursday.

Cuomo said Wednesday that at least 799 people died in the state from the virus-induced Covid-19 disease.

He also reported that about 18,000 patients are currently seen in state hospitals, most of them in New York City. However, the number of people seen in intensive care units, as he said, is decreasing. He saw this as a “good sign,” as well as the fact that, in his opinion, the curve of the epidemic had become somewhat flatter. Although, he added, the practice of social exclusion should not be alleviated. “We cannot let ourselves go,” he declared.
