The three men were not employees of the funeral home, they were just helping and then taking photos.

Selfies were taken with the corpse of Diego Maradona, a soccer legend who died on Wednesday, and three men who attended the funeral, the BBC.

Maradona, who died of a heart attack, was buried this Thursday in a closed coffin in the Presidential Palace in Buenos Aires, and the body was previously prepared for burial. The funeral home commissioned by the work also employed outside staff due to short deadlines and many things to do. In this way, the three men who worked as temporary workers were able to approach the open coffin and take photos in front of it.

As thousands of fans paid their respects to the deceased, the images appeared on social media. According to them, one of the men also touched Maradona’s body. Another image shows another worker smiling at the camera pointing his thumb up.

The case turned into a major scandal, with a representative of the funeral home apologizing to the relatives of the former soccer player, who was known for having also buried several of his relatives. He said he consulted the police about the details of the funeral, for which he left the coffin area for a short time. The three workers, on the other hand, stayed there and took photos.

The family has no plans to take the matter to court.

Maradona had already been buried, tens of thousands had attended the public farewell and the ceremony was already underway.
