The Kiev Foreign Ministry accused Budapest of directly interfering in the electoral process in a statement issued Sunday night, with the prospect of a “tough reaction”.

The Ministry responded to the fact that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, in a post written on the community page during the day, encouraged Hungarians from Transcarpathia to vote for the candidates of the Hungarian Cultural Association of Transcarpathia ( KMKSZ) and Zoltán Babják.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said they were not only disappointed by the Hungarian head of ministry’s remarks, but believed this would undermine the Hungarian-Ukraine talks.

“In doing so, Budapest reaffirmed its direct intervention in Ukraine’s internal affairs and dealt an insidious blow to Ukraine’s constant efforts to find a constructive solution to the problems in the relations between Ukraine and Hungary,” the Kiev ministry stressed.

In its statement, the Ministry declared that it considered the statements made by the Hungarian side unacceptable and presented a “tough reaction”.

“We note that Budapest has ignored repeated calls by Kiev to stop ignoring the rule of law and good neighborly relations and to respect the laws of Ukraine … It is unacceptable to” whisper “to the voters of Budapest, it violates Ukrainian law, Ukraine The party has no choice but to react harshly to such measures in accordance with established international practice and Ukrainian law, and Hungary’s overheating of emotions and provocation of Ukrainian citizens to abide by the constitution and laws. Ukrainian laws are doomed to failure. “- states in the statement.

In a statement issued on October 20, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry warned Hungarian officials to refrain from conducting political agitation and interference in Ukraine’s municipal elections during their visits to Transcarpathia.
