Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. Starting at midnight, the most severe restrictions will take effect throughout Italy, including the interruption of interprovincial traffic, a full-day curfew and the interruption of commerce and hospitality. You can only go outside with a work permit or for other compelling reasons.

The closing will be valid from December 24 to December 26 and from December 31 to January 6.

However, participation in Mass is permitted in the church closest to the place of residence. Apart from churches, there are only grocery stores, pharmacies, and other stores and services that sell basic goods. Bars and restaurants can work for home delivery.

Visits between relatives or acquaintances are allowed despite the restrictions. It was stipulated that a maximum of two adults could visit a home only once a day.

According to data from the Ministry of Health on Tuesday night, 14,522 new infections were detected in the country in a single day after the previous just over 13,000. The proportion of tests performed and the number of patients found in them is around eight percent, up from almost twenty measurements in early November. The number of patients treated in the hospital is gradually decreasing, but they are still above 25,000. In the intensive care unit, 2,624 patients are treated. Nearly two million people have been tested since the outbreak began. In one day 553 patients died after the previous 628. Thus, the number of fatalities has reached 70,395 since the end of February.

The Vatican said Pope Francis had been retested after two cardinals who worked at the mansion also tested positive. One is Giuseppe Bertello, head of the Vatican government, and the other is Konrad Krajewski, considered the right-hand man of the Pope, head of the papal alms office.
