We succeeded in slowing the spread of the epidemic, the Bulgarian health minister boasted after the number of active cases and the number of deaths decreased over the holidays.

Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. The first step is partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

Kindergartens and lower primary schools in Bulgaria will open from January 4 due to the reduction in the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov announced at a weekly press conference for staff of crisis in Sofia.

According to the head of the ministry, the number of people cured exceeds the number of new infections and the number of deaths also shows a decreasing trend. However, the situation is not happy either:

110 people have died in the last 24 hours and 7,515 people have died from virus complications since the outbreak, 3,480 of them in December.

With nurseries, kindergartens and schools up to and including fourth grade, they can reopen on January 4. However, the panel warned that if the number of infected in the country jumped again, they would have to close again.

Bulgaria has extended the partial quarantine until the end of January in a more flexible version. For example, hotel restaurants are open to hotel guests from December 22. Museums, galleries and cinemas will be able to receive visitors and spectators with a capacity of 30 percent from January. Pharmacies, supermarkets, banks and insurance companies are exempt from the restrictions. Gas stations may also be open.

In Bulgaria, 4608 people have been vaccinated with the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine so far.
