Coronavirus: the second wave

Measures against the coronavirus epidemic in France will tighten as of Friday, Emmanuel Macron announced. The head of state said in a television speech that curfew restrictions will be introduced across the country, in the name of which all non-elemental travel will be banned, and people will only be allowed to leave their homes for the things they need, and restaurants and restaurants will be closed. However, this does not mean closing schools and it will be possible to go to work, but they will move to online education at universities and also encourage teleworking.

The new measures will remain in effect until December at the earliest, Macron said, adding that the situation will be reviewed every two weeks. The goal is for the stores to run smoothly before the Christmas holidays.

In France, alarming figures are reported on the spread of the epidemic: 33,000 new cases and 523 deaths have been registered in the last 24 hours, the highest number since April. In the intensive care units of hospitals, half of the beds are already occupied by covid patients.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel had announced similar restrictions a few hours earlier.
