There were logistical problems with the delivery of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to Spain and eight other states. In Italy, meanwhile, the amount received in the first round is decreasing. According to Pfizer, the 200 million doses of vaccines requested will be shipped by the end of September.

Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus mostly ranged from 50 to 100 in 24 hours. The first step is a partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

Pfizer-BioNTech delays delivery of new coronavirus vaccination batches in eight EU states German wave referring to the Ministry of Health of one of the affected countries, Spain. The Spaniards say the delay is due to problems around the “loading and logistics process,” but no reports have been reported on which states other than themselves are affected.

The Spanish Minister of Health, Ilvad Salvador, spoke in a radio interview that the problems were caused by the temperature control of the shipments, but that they have already been corrected. It is unclear from the news when and at what rate they will be replaced.

Several cities reported similar problems in Germany on Monday after temperature sensors on shipments revealed that some packages had not stayed cool enough. The vaccine should be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius during transportation and should not be stored above 2-8 degrees after arrival and can be used within 5 days. Tobias Kurt, an epidemiologist at the Charité Hospital in Berlin, says that there are not enough vaccines in Germany yet, mass vaccination can only start around March-April.

In addition to them, other states are reducing the number of vaccines that arrive in the first round. Italy, for example, which received half a million doses a week since Monday, received just 9,750 at first. This is slightly less than the 10,000 received by Malta, while the EU is initially distributing a total of 200 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to the population.

The European Commission to Politician reported Monday that the population-based amount will come to the end of the month. And starting in January, the correct amount will be shipped weekly to each country until the requested 200 million servings are received. This quantity is expected to be delivered in September.

EU member states will officially start vaccinating against the coronavirus at the same time from Sunday, although in several countries, in addition to Germany and Slovakia, in Hungary, the vaccination of health workers started a day earlier. At home, they had been given more than a thousand vaccinations on Monday.
