Scientists are also baffled by news from the Spanish and Portuguese coasts that teams of swordfish have attacked sailboats and smaller sea yachts offshore in recent weeks.
Several ships were injured in the attacks and two vehicles lost some of their rudder blades. On board one of the boats, the crew members were also injured when the dolphins forcibly pushed the hull to the side.
The most recent incident occurred on a Friday afternoon off the Atlantic coast of northern Spain, when a British company set out for Great Britain in a 12-meter boat but was attacked by orcs near A Coruña. Peter greenThe manager of Halycon Yachts told The Guardian that one of the animals pushed the boat fifteen times. After the attacks, the vehicle became unstable and had to be towed to a Spanish port for repair.
Simultaneously with the incident, three radio alerts were issued to sailors in the area for the threat of a hurricane, and there was even another collision. On August 30, a French ship sent an alarm to the Coast Guard, claiming they were under attack.
Experts say that the behavior of highly intelligent dolphins is strange and unusual. Hurricanes regularly escorted ships in the area, but similar aggressive attacks had not occurred before.
