According to Zoltán Kis, vaccine development by more and more vaccine companies is in the last phase, but more research is needed. However, the virologist also noted that authorities are prepared to speed up licensing procedures, but vaccine manufacturers also agree that safety is paramount.
The logistics of delivering the many millions of doses to be produced early next year will be a challenge in itself, but, as he said, the World Health Organization (WHO) has already developed a plan to bring the vaccines to market.
