Swiss police deployed tear gas and rubber bullets Friday night against a crowd protesting the epidemic restrictions in St. Gallen.

The police were informed that after 9 p.m. local time, the officers had to use rubber bullets in self-defense to stop the protesters who threw all kinds of objects at them.

Later, several people started throwing incendiary bottles and burning objects, for which tear gas was also fired at them.

According to the Tagblett newspaper, about a thousand protesters took to the streets in St. Gallen, northeastern Switzerland, with a population of almost 75,000, protesting epidemiological restrictions.

Due to the jump in the number of people infected by the coronavirus, the Swiss government decided two weeks ago not to relax the restrictions.

In Switzerland’s 8.6 million, more than six hundred thousand people have been infected with the coronavirus since the outbreak began, which means that seven thousand people have been infected. To date, more than 9,600 have died from complications from the illness caused by the Covid-19 virus.
