The event, which starts at 10 am on Thursday, is structured as follows:
- László Parragh, President of MKIK – Greeting and presentation
- Mihály varga, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance – conference
- Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary – conference
- László Parragh – final word
Last week, Viktor Orbán noted that a HUF 6 billion stimulus package was ready for implementation, and yesterday László Parragh hinted that helping those working in the hotel industry had already been decided. Based on this, it is conceivable that major announcements will be made on Thursday.
It should also be noted that an economic measure was reached on Wednesday, as a government decree was issued that as of February 3, the government will pay the required wage subsidy to catering companies in a single amount. However, this isn’t really a real discount, as the apps run until the end of February and the government is way behind on payments. In other words, the regulation only provides an opportunity for catering service providers to finally get what they should have received long ago.
The Portfolio provides live coverage of the event starting at 10am, it’s worth keeping up with us.
There have been big announcements here before
The annual MKIK event always receives special attention, not only because of the speakers (who will not be present this time, contrary to previous years), but also because the Prime Minister regularly makes his current economic policy announcements here. The coronavirus epidemic and the government’s responses will give the event a special topicality.
- 2020-ban The content of Viktor Orbán’s speech was already determined by the coronavirus epidemic and its treatment. He had already said then that we had to prepare for a pandemic. He added: “The biggest problem with the current epidemic is that there will be no vaccine, even if the antidote is found, it will take at least a year.” Even then, he predicted that the tourist season would hook. And he had already revealed so much about the plans at the time that the 2020 and 21 budgets needed to be redesigned. It is necessary to create many billions of euros of economic correction funds. For the first time, the Prime Minister spoke about the need for an economic protection action plan.
- 2019-ben the prime minister spoke about the Hungarian model. Finances must be kept in order (deficit and debt decrease), the model is characterized by a system based on work instead of aid, and an important element of the family support system. Then, Viktor Orbán listed 4 specific tasks: addressing demographic issues, growth surplus, transforming vocational training and investment strategy.
- 2018-ban The head of government summarized in nine points in general the commitments that he can assume and fulfill after the elections.
