Today, Viktor Orbán consulted with members of the Health Sciences Council, who came to the conclusion that we are in the ascending phase of the third wave of the epidemic.
“We have to be careful. We must do everything possible to ensure that as many vaccines as possible reach Hungary and that as many people as possible are vaccinated,” said Viktor Orbán.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the experts gave a “rather cautious negative” answer to the question of whether it could be opened now.

Today’s announcement by the Prime Minister makes clear that the government also believes that the epidemic situation does not allow the restrictions to be lifted. Compared to previous easing plans, in addition to the accelerating epidemic, the question now is whether the boost from vaccines will prevent further tightening of the health system with further tightening. For now, the chances of that happening don’t seem too high either.
