Even in his radio interview on Friday morning, the prime minister promised that the government’s new economic protection measures would be announced on Saturday morning, the portal revives. In it, the prime minister spoke of “there will be little Christmas this year.” A visit to a relative on 25-26 would have to be canceled, if it were a great Christmas, we would be hurting the loved one. Let’s go there with little Christmas, maybe Easter, or next Christmas we can have our usual big family vacations.
The epidemiological rules for Christmas Eve will be decided at the government meeting on Monday.
In the spring, during the first wave, economic protection measures already existed, which consisted of:
- First, the obligation to pay principal and interest on loans contracted by companies and individuals will be suspended until Wednesday until the end of the year.
- Short-term business loans will run through June 30.
- The APR on consumer loans taken from Thursday will be maxed out at 5 percent of the central bank’s base rate.
- They help the most affected sectors: tourism, hospitality, taxi drivers, cultural services and sports. Employers’ contribution obligations are temporarily waived in full, employee contributions are also significantly reduced, and the health contribution rate has been reduced to the legal minimum.
- In critical sectors, rents cannot be increased and contracts cannot be terminated.
- According to the kata (itemized tax for small taxpayers), flat-rate taxation of taxi drivers will be suspended until June 30.
- They also do not have to pay the contribution to tourism development during this period.
- They are changing the employer-employee relationship, opting for more flexible employment contract rules to make it easier for the parties to negotiate; No further details have been released.
Presumably, the Prime Minister could announce similar steps now. Hungarians are less likely to receive direct financial support, despite 90 percent saying the government should have given households a cash or cash voucher before Christmas.
