Andrea Pirlo, the new Juventus coach, made a fairly strong starting eleven for his first match on the Turin bench: with Cuadrado, Ramsey, the young Kulusevski and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo, the home team ran on the line offense in the preparation match.
The 35-year-old Portuguese classic did not have to pay 20 minutes: after forcing him with Kulusevski, he shot very well medium high to the right of the goal (1-0).
During the break, Pirlo changed for eight: Ronaldo and Kulusevski, who went ahead, left the field, followed by newcomers Arthur and Demiral and Pjaca, among others. The last two players further increased Turin’s lead in the middle of the half (the second hit was preceded by a brilliant outside pass from Douglas Costa) and then Portanova twice defended Novara’s defense in minutes of overtime. So Juventus started the season with a 5-0 win.
