Without a doubt, one of the most exciting parts of pregnancy is choosing a name, and it is also one of the most responsible tasks of expectant parents, as a carefully chosen name will have an impact on your little one’s life.

While some prefer the more traditional Hungarian names, or perhaps because of family traditions they choose a name that has occurred between ancestors, others prefer to vote for the unusual, more modern and easily pronounced by foreigners.

In 2020, babies can already be called that

There are parents who are not filled with the names offered by the official name book and would give the seedlings a special sounding name. Anyone has the opportunity to do so, which they must officially request, at the State Secretariat for Territorial Administration of the Prime Minister’s Office, in a form that can be downloaded from the Kormany.hu portal. The application is sent to the Institute of Linguistics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, where a committee decides whether to include the name in the surname book.
