Epidemic, preparedness
The Human Resources minister said in an ATV summary about the second wave of the epidemic. The nature of the coronavirus epidemic has changed: It spreads within communities, which also means that it is significantly more difficult to control, he said. He also explained that the infection is constantly shifting towards the elderly. “Currently, viral infections are the most common among people between 50 and 65 years old, and all infected people have approx. They represent 40 to 45 percent, and those over 65 are affected between 8 and 10 percent, “said the minister. The remaining percentages are completed by those aged 20 to 40.
Regarding school infections, he spoke about the fact that compared to the 6,500 institutions, the number of schools and kindergartens where additional procedures should have been developed is less than 1 percent.
Attempts are being made around the world to condense the epidemic data into mathematical curves. This is also the case in Hungary, the Gompertz curve is used at home. As he said, they are based on the Gompertz function compiled by the National Center for Public Health in ordering measures: hospital preparations or doctor referrals.
Regarding the capacity of hospital beds, Kassler said that 53 percent of beds are used, so 47 percent of all hospital beds are sick. Of the 47%, 20% of the number of beds is being made available if patient care is needed. Capacity, on the other hand, can be further increased, according to the minister, so as not to interrupt medical care.
There are roughly as many or fewer infected healthcare workers than in the first wave. Since March, two health workers have died from the virus.
Kassler announced.
Rise
According to him, the health law passed on Tuesday places the entire Hungarian health system in a new system of relationships. They only have to make 18 government decrees on this law, he said.
According to him, the misinterpretation of the text of the law is that a doctor who practices in a public hospital cannot receive patients in private care. “The law does not prohibit the continuation of private practice, the law establishes that permission must be requested to do so,” the minister explained.
Increasing the pay of GPs is also on the agenda. “Primary care must be in a position where a significant part of the diagnosis is transferred there from both hospitals and therapy, which can be done there, thus reducing waiting times in hospitals. The key players in this are family doctors, ”he said.
