There was a valid contract whereby the 2022 PGA Championship, one of the four most important golf tournaments, the so-called main ones, will be held at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, owned by President Donald Trump. But PGA of America organizing chair Jim Richerson has now announced that the board of directors, exercising its right under the agreement, has decided to terminate it.
The reason for the dissolution is that holding the competition there, according to the organization’s president, would damage the image of the PGA of America and put the organization in an impossible position. Speaking of which, fans fired by US President Trump’s speech last week besieged and looted the US Capitol building in Washington, DC, while MPs reportedly enshrined Trump’s electoral defeat there. The action, which many described as a blow, had 5 deaths.
According to a response from the Trump Organization, the PGA is in breach of its valid contract with the move, to which it is not entitled.
