Kangaroos were found that escaped from the Miskolc Zoo and Cultural Park last week; one of them was destroyed on Tuesday, the other was captured on Wednesday, boon.hu reported Wednesday.
On September 10, two Bennett kangaroos escaped from the zoo track. The county’s news portal wrote on Wednesday, citing zoo director Ferenc Jánosi, that one, a two-year-old male, was found in Csanyik on Tuesday afternoon. He was weakened, which could also be seen from the fact that he showed no resistance when he was captured. After a few minutes, the animal died. Ferenc Jánosi commented that because he grew up in a zoo, he may have been very stressed from being in an unfamiliar environment, but he may not have found food and water for himself, or he ate some of which he eventually died of. The exact cause is examined by a veterinarian.
The other kangaroo was discovered at the zoo fence Wednesday. The animal was harder to catch, eventually caught with a net, now in quarantine. Otherwise it looks healthy and strong. They still do not know their sex because they came out of the bag in spring and it is not easy to determine their sex with kangaroos.
