The MOL Fehérvár FC football team delegation was trapped in a hotel in Malta for an indefinite period of time, thus unable to train at the place and time of Thursday’s Europa League second round qualifying match against the Hibernians. At Malta airport, all members of the delegation, despite their valid negative tests, were tested for the corona virus and were unable to leave the hotel until it was available.

The club’s website reported that after the team’s plane landed, local authorities examined everyone in a separate room at the airport, and only after taking samples was the delegation able to continue their journey to the hotel. This was done by ensuring that the association adhered to all UEFA protocols and pre-agreed medical standards and that all travelers had a valid coronavirus test.

Fehérvár’s press conference scheduled for Wednesday night and subsequent training sessions did not start either, as the players and squad could not leave the hotel until the test results were known.

The club was soon informed that all Vidi members in Malta had submitted a negative test to allow the team to leave the hotel. The training, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., could start an hour and a half late.

The Hibernians-MOL White Castle FC meeting will take place behind closed doors on Thursday evening at 7pm at the National Stadium in Ta’Qali, Malta. The party is led by Ivaylo Stoyanov from Bulgaria.

A match is decided by a match. If a decision is not made in regulation time, there will be a 15-minute extension twice, if the match is not decided and penalties will be decided.

Fehérvár played a 1-1 draw with Irish Bohemian FC in the first qualifying round of the Europa League, at home, and advanced on penalties in extra time. The Hibernians were able to win 2-0 in the first qualifying round of El 1, as a non-featured team, at Vaduz’s home in Liechtenstein.
