Before long, disaster protection units were alerted in more than 60 locations due to storm damage in Budapest and Pest County.

Dániel Mukics, spokesman for the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, told the MTI: a large amount of sudden precipitation arrived over the Budapest area and Pest county on Saturday afternoon. They also received several alerts from Újpest, Zugló and Göd.

Professional, municipal and volunteer disaster management units were alerted to remove broken tree limbs and pump out flooded basements.

During the storm, a tree fell on the train track, so train traffic between Dunakeszi and Göd, as well as Vácrátót and Vác, is suspended, Mávinform reported Saturday night. MÁV-Start ordered replacement buses to transport passengers. Delays must be arranged on the Budapest-Vác-Szob and Budapest-Veresegyház-Vác lines.

According to the National Weather Service’s danger sign, in Győr-Moson-Sopron and Vas counties, there is a second degree warning in effect in Budapest, Pest, Fejér, Heves, Komárom-Esztergom, Nógrád, Pest, Somogy, Tolna , Veszprém and Zala.
