Geoff Keighley, organizer and host of The Game Awards announcedto organize a video player festival that will run from May 2020 to August 2020. Its name will be Summer Game Fest. Which, by the way, is not the same as the very similar American IGN name, banza, Summer of Gaming.

Keighley wrote on TwittermessageHow worried, after 25 years for the first time this year it won’t be a big video player event. But he thinks that in 2020, we need a “positive and stimulating center of mass”, so they want to build something like that. Summer Game Fest will be an online “festival” where we will receive digital news, in-game events, playable content and more. The details are still not entirely clear, but they are already first phaseCompanies like 2K, Activision, Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Blizzard, Bungie, CD Project Red, Digital Extremes, EA, PlayStation, Private Division, Riot will participate in the party. Games, Square Enix, Steam, Warner Brothers and Xbox.

Since E3 was canceled (even if its organizers don’t make up for the gaps online), it’s been questionable where big companies will make their big announcements, but since then, more events have come up. For example, the aforementioned Summer of Gaming or the PC Gaming Show organized by PC Gamer. In addition, the list of attendees to the Summer Game Fest is already more encouraging than that of E3 in recent years. We wonder how this will affect E3 from 2021.
