The number of people requesting the vaccine is growing steadily, approaching three million, the parliamentary secretary of state for the Prime Minister’s Office said on current channel M1 on Monday.
Csaba Dömötör said that if we can ensure that chronic patients over 60 and under 60 are protected, it would be a serious step to “put this difficult period behind us.”
In May, Hungarians will receive 3.5 million more vaccines.
He said hundreds of thousands fewer had been vaccinated against coronavirus in Hungary so far if only Western vaccines had been used. He explained the attitude that the government “did not rely on the stagnation of purchases in Brussels” was effective, but he sought to obtain vaccines from various sources.
“As a result, in addition to Western vaccines, Chinese Sinopharm and Russian vaccines are also used in Hungary,” he said, emphasizing that “in May, Hungarians will receive 3.5 million more vaccines” than in any other country with a similar population. .
More than a million have already been vaccinated
The Secretary of State emphasized that more than a million people in Hungary had already been vaccinated and therefore the vaccination rate exceeded ten percent, while the EU average was only six percent.
Regarding the fact that one of the heads of the European Medicines Agency had asked the national states not to authorize the Russian vaccine until they authorized it, he said: There are recognized professionals in Hungary, and you have the experience to consider which medicine is safe and effective. In addition, the vaccines used in Hungary are used in many other countries, added Csaba Dömötör.
