The goose whose brutal slaughter outraged all of America

The incident happened in the 1980s, but one of the characters, Jessica Fleming, now wants to make a movie out of the story.

Jessica’s grandfather, Gene Fleming, was a true handyman in Nebraska. He made a fortune thanks to his skill. In 1988, he visited his sister-in-law’s farm, where he saw something heartbreaking. A goose born without a foot due to a genetic disorder tried to keep up with his mates, with little success.

As Fleming was a member of a company that was dedicated to helping children with disabilities, among other things, he felt that he also had to help this unfortunate animal.

At first, he climbed a skateboard-like structure on goosefoot, but that didn’t work. That’s when the idea came up to fill the smallest baby shoe with foam rubber and glue it to the goose.

The goose, named Andy, soon got used to the shoes and soon became a sight in the area. One of Gene’s friends, journalist Gary Johansson, saw an opportunity in the goose story and wrote an article for the local Hastings Tribune.

From then on, Gene and Andy’s reputations skyrocketed, as we would say “viral story” today. They even spoke on television shows, People magazine, and Reader’s Digest. they were sent to never run out of shoes, making Andy the first Nike-sponsored goose in history.

However, the story tragically ended on October 19, 1991. The body of a goose with a pair of shoes was found in a local park. The Flemings rushed in and found with sadness that Andy lay there dead. The incident erupted into great dust across the United States, as in fact a “celebrity” died under mysterious circumstances.

Although even the local police investigated the matter, it remained unsolved, although the suspicion was raised that a disabled child may have been the culprit, but this thread was dropped.

What’s even sadder is that, as Jessica later reported, after Andy’s death, her grandfather was increasingly affected by signs of mental decline. Gene and Andy seem to have developed such a close emotional bond that the destruction of the animal led to the old man not only emotionally but also spiritually.

Growing up now, Jessica is now considering filming the strange story of the three of them.
