2,046 new coronavirus infections were recorded in the Czech Republic on Saturday, breaking the record for cases on weekends. In the country of ten million, the number of active infections is almost 24,000, of which 516 are treated in hospitals.
In the Czech Republic, the number of infections has accelerated since the beginning of September. The worst situation is that of Prague, where there are already 216 confirmed infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Thus, the capital received a red highlight on Friday, indicating an uncontrollable community spread of the epidemic.
Following reclassification, Prague universities and colleges will close on Monday and move to digital distance learning. Although they became similar in the secondary schools, they were eventually not ordered to stay home due to protests from the institutions and parents. (MTI)
