Julie Jenkins Fancelli’s donation accounted for the majority of the $ 500,000 (147.5 million florin) fundraiser for the event in Ellipse Park. Fancelli also generously supported Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign.

In the otherwise peaceful and legitimate Jan.6 rally, Trump encouraged his supporters to fight back. Several of them later besieged the United States Legislature building, the Capitol. Five people, including a police officer, died at the site. The House of Representatives began a constitutional prosecution process against Trump for what happened.

More than 135 people were arrested in connection with the attack.

A radical right-wing host, Alex Jones, offered more than $ 50,000 (14.75 million guilders) in seed money to host the rally. In return, he asked to talk about what he wanted at the event. Jones, who loved conspiracy theories, also invited leaders of extremist groups Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, who played the lead role in the siege, to his popular internet and radio shows.

Publix Super Markets called the siege of the Capitol on Twitter a national tragedy and noted that what happened did not represent the values, work and opinions of the store chain.

Publix distanced itself from Fancelli and stressed that the heir “is not employed, does not participate in commercial operations and does not represent the company in any way.”
