Tourism revenues represent almost 20 percent of the country’s GDP. Half of the 20 million tourists visiting Croatia tend to arrive in July and August, so this year’s season could be saved somewhat if the epidemic slows and restrictions are eased. The head of the Istrian tourism office, Denis Ivosevic, says that the apartments can only accommodate two or 4 people, making it easy to follow the rules for distance.
There are 2,125 coronavirus infections in Croatia, 86 of which died from the disease.
