A mutation in a new type of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) identified in Britain was released in Germany, authorities said Thursday.

According to a communication from the Baden-Württemberg Health Ministry, the B.1.1.7 mutation was detected in the body of a woman who arrived in Germany on December 20 from Great Britain by plane for a visit from a relative.

He entered the country through Frankfurt airport and, like all passengers, underwent a rapid coronavirus test. The finding was positive, so the infected woman is in home isolation. He was taken from the airport by members of his family by car.

Closer analysis of his sample was shown on Thursday to carry a new viral mutation that spreads much more easily than previously known SARS-CoV-2 variants.

In Germany, according to the Robert Koch Institute for Public Health (RKI) on Thursday, 32,195 infections have been tested in the past 24 hours. This is an increase of almost twenty percent from 26,923 a week earlier. Thus, more than one and a half million cases have already been registered, 1,587,115.

802 deaths have been reported in association with the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) disease. This is an increase of almost fifteen percent from 698 the previous week. The death toll from the epidemic amounted to 28,770.

The number of people in need of intensive care due to Covid-19 rose by 11 to 5,354 in one day, according to Thursday’s summary from the professional organization for intensive care and accident care (DIVI). 53 percent (2,832 patients) require mechanical ventilation. According to the DIVI report, 26,554 intensive care beds are operated nationwide, of which 5,016 are free. (MTI)
