A psychologist helps peers process the tragedy

A psychologist will help the deceased high school student’s classmates process the tragedy, and thanks to prompt administration, students can meet the specialist from Friday.

Gábor Varga, principal of János Vajda High School, told the Vas County news portal about the accident:
The students took a class trip to the adventure park. There, a student from our school lost his life in an accident. Another of our students was seriously injured in the leg. He had surgery last night. Today I was informed about his condition: the boy is significantly better. News of another victim emerged. One of our sons was surprised and his parents were able to take him away after proper examinations and a short, temporary treatment. The school community was shocked to receive what appears to be raw at this time. In the morning, we immediately began to organize to start a conversation with members of the affected class this afternoon with the participation of a psychologist. And at six thirty in the afternoon, the school community gathers for a silent commemoration. We want to light a candle in memory of a deceased colleague, dear friend and dear disciple said the school principal.

There were no signs that the tree might fall

Vaol also reached out to the adventure park manager, who answered questions after a police inspection at the scene.

According to Pétert Szőnye, the consumer protection authority inspected all the stunt equipment and playground equipment during the summer. The inspectors only found a discrepancy in the information and asked for clarification in a document; these were immediately corrected by the off-shift operators and presented to the authority.

The trees in the adventure park were not inspected by the consumer protection authority; they had already been inspected by someone else before. The news portal writes that the operator Holdfényliget has the Certificate of Conformity required for the operation of stunted equipment since 2007, which is continuously inspected, annually, by an authorized organization. The last time there was a review of this type was on July 14, 2020, when compliance was verified.

On the fallen tree that caused the accident, Péter Szőnye said there were no signs that it might fall. They don’t know, they don’t understand what could have happened. We were surprised by the tragedy, we are very sorry that this had to happen in our oldest adventure park in the country. They express their condolences to the family of the deceased child and wish the injured a full recovery as soon as possible. And they are cooperating with the authorities in everything, the executive said.

Incidentally, the adventure park would have closed this season in a week.
