Five, or extremely high avalanche alarms, were issued in East Tyrol on Sunday due to a sudden heavy snowfall. There are avalanches in progress that have already damaged several houses. Where it melts, avalanches of mud cause damage.

In Hopfgarten, a huge house was rendered inaccessible due to an avalanche.

In Lienz on Saturday, the snowfall turned to rain, causing flooding and landslides that flooded the wineries.

Snow caused power outages in many places: thick snow caused trees to fall on power lines, and in other places strong winds knocked over stakes.

There are many impassable roads, some of them have not yet been cleared of snow and in several places they are afraid of avalanches, so they prefer to close the roads.

On Sunday, heavy snowfall continued in Carinthia and Tyrol, so that in many places the thickness of the snow reaches one and a half meters. However, according to meteorologists, another meter can be expected for Monday. In the Lesach Valley in Carinthia, 275mm of precipitation was measured on Sunday morning.

On Monday there will be a teaching break in the Mölltal Valley in Carinthia.
