Four years after Raspberry introduced the camera module it developed, the company came up with another unit. You can now change the lenses in the high-quality camera.

The name Raspberry has long been synonymous with super cheap miniature computers that can be used not only for home hobbies, but even to operate a fan. The price level has been maintained, but the category is different: the company introduced on Thursday a new type of device that may be of interest mainly to those who are interested in photography beyond their mobile device.

The high-quality Raspberry Pi camera is a unit that houses a 7.9mm, 12 megapixel camera with a Sony IMX477 sensor. Of course, all of this wouldn’t be worth anything if you couldn’t put a lens on it, so the socket was designed so that units with C and CS bayonets can connect. For example, the Canon 70-200mm (f / 2.8) lens is adjustable.

Raspberry already released a similar device in 2016, the Camera Module V2 had a much more compact design with a Sony IMX219 sensor.

The novelty, the high-quality Camera, developers say, will take better photos not only because it has a more modern sensor, but also because it’s a backlit system (BSI) and has larger pixels.

Thanks to these two features, you can take sharp pictures even in low light conditions. According to the manufacturer, the machine works more like a compact camera, not a cell phone camera. (At least like an average cell phone).

A device compatible with Rasberry Pi computers costs $ 50 (approximately 16,300 HUF), but by the time you contact us (including tax) it will be around 21,000 HUF. For an additional $ 15, a 6mm lens will be offered, and for $ 50, a 16mm lens will also be offered.
