According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), with the support of the Bill Gates Foundation, the coronavirus epidemic in Hungary could take a catastrophic turn.

Coronavirus – the second wave

Half a year after the spring outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the second wave of the pandemic has arrived. The radical increase in the number of infected is forcing more and more countries to re-impose restrictions, despite the fact that the world economy has not even recovered from the effects of the spring outbreak. According to the posters, the second wave also reached Hungary. Follow our news!

The Washington-based Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) was made possible, among other things, thanks to the support of billionaire Bill Gates. The institute also plays an important role in the coronavirus epidemic, as the professionals working here are concerned with modeling the epidemic and, of course, not just possible scenarios for the United States.

IHME mainly uses mathematical models to perform calculations and forecasts of a health situation, including a coronavirus epidemic. And they have no good news about Hungary: as the Hungarian voice He also writes, the IHME found that if current trends continue,

Therefore, the epidemic situation in Hungary may turn out to be worse than it is now.

In the institute’s forecast, it believed that if everything continues as it is now, Covid-19 could have more than 12,500 deaths in Hungary by the end of the year, and another 35,000 could be infected by the peak expected by the end of November.

Based on current trends, IHME researchers will reach their maximum daily deaths by November 19. If, on the contrary, everyone wears a mask, this peak can (in theory) be delayed until the beginning of December. This would also significantly reduce the number of daily deaths.

According to IHME researchers, the peak of the Hungarian epidemic may occur in about a month, after which a slow decline may begin.

By Friday morning, 1,322 new coronavirus infections had been identified and 17 patients had died, according to official information.
