Tamás Kimmel Szabó: There is no liberal or Christian theater

Wrote an open letter Attila Vidnyánszky Tamás Szabó Kimmel, who was an acting student at SZFE between 2003 and 2007.

I spoke for the first time with Attila Vidnyánszky when I began negotiating my contract, in 2013, in one of the offices of the National Theater. I was looking forward to that reunion because I heard that he was a really unique and excellent director. Soon I had to be disappointed … in man!

– the actor begins his letter, from which it can already be assumed that the purpose of writing is not to exalt the new lord of SZFE.

Kimmel Szabó recalls this outrageous Vidnyánszky encounter that national actors enjoyed applause after the performance. Or that Vidnyánszky said that the change of director was a boxing match at the Nation and “he boxed well.”

He also stated that he is a Christian and that he will do a different kind of theater!

– writes the actor, whom the director allegedly told that he could stay, but not expect good roles. So “one of the liberal theaters passed, fear not,” Vidnyánszky suggested.

“Sealed”, wrote Tamás Kimmel Szabó, who assures that he was first a liberal. “In my career thus far, I have never experienced a similar ideological revelation from anyone!” The actor added.

Not in the University, not in the profession! I say: never! From no one!

– stressed that it was a serious matter:

“There is no theater or liberal or Christian training, if one is repeated daily in the propaganda press, it is not like that! There is good theater and bad theater! There are good and bad workouts!

Kimmel Szabó considers conscious division and harassment of the public and the profession harmful. She is Szekler on her mother’s branch, baptized, Hungarian: “So? Who has something to do with this? “Ask what this has to do with your job.

Can’t express this when there is not enough talent? When is quality questionable? When it comes to money, paripa, weapons for the voice?

– clearly points out that Vidnyánszky’s occupation is, in his opinion, rooted in a completely different way than ideological.

“I am a proud Hungarian (like everyone else), I swore to protect Hungarian culture, I kept it, I keep it and I will keep it forever, no matter which side you like or not. I am firm!

Writes Kimmel Szabó

Send a message to Attila Vidnyánszky not to run over the students and professors of the university “in a despicable and deceitful way.”

Please do not disturb the audience any more, do not cause any more harm to the Hungarian (national) culture and last but not least the entire theater profession. It will still be hard to get up from this

– writes the actor, then closes his letter with the words “Come on, young people, let’s go SZFE! Free country, free university! “
