An unexplained health problem occurred in one of the test subjects, so testing of the US pharmaceutical giant Johnson and Johnson’s coronavirus vaccine was suspended on Monday, MTI writes.
The company is one of those competing to be the first to produce a vaccine against the disease.
The testing was already at a very advanced stage, in the latter part of a three-stage clinical trial in which the vaccine was administered to thousands of people to test the efficacy and safe use of the vaccine.
Johnson and Johnson said last month that it intends to involve about 60,000 people on three continents in the third phase of the experiments. However, it was announced on Monday that diseases, even serious ones, generally occur during a clinical trial and are expected to increase in a large number of trials.
It was also found that there is a difference in announcing the suspension of trials at the trial level than when a health authority orders the same.
The giant highlighted its strong commitment to the safe use of the vaccine and that the subject’s disease was being examined by company doctors and independent inspection bodies’ health commissioners.
