Péter Szijjártó – who is currently in quarantine due to his positive test for coronavirus – said in a video uploaded to his Facebook page, which he consulted by phone with the Minister of Health, that in Russia they are taking great steps in the research and production of the vaccine.
It was agreed to send a small quantity to Hungary in December so that they could conduct clinical trials, test the vaccine and complete the final steps of the authorization process.
Russia will be able to take on large volumes from the second to the third week of January
said the Minister. The exact amount is not yet known, as the vaccine plants are still being prepared.
It was also agreed that Hungary and Russia will also cooperate on licensing. Officials from the two countries will discuss this issue in a video conference on Friday, Péter Szijjártó said.
The minister also reported that on Friday or Monday, a Hungarian vaccine company would also consult with its Russian partner. He said that this company is still producing a flu vaccine, but it could also produce an anti-coronavirus. It would be good if they agreed not only on a purchase, but also on the outsourcing of production – remarked Péter Szijjártó, who said that he currently has mild symptoms.
