The wave of price increases begins with an increase in the price of a TV subscription, despite the fact that President Aleksandar Vucic promised years ago that he would abolish this charge. Last year, the TV subscription was raised from 220 to 255 dinars, and in 2021 this amount will increase even more. If voted by parliament, the TV subscription fee will be 299 dinars (900 forints) as of January 1, 2021.
The price of fuel could rise by 2 to 4 dinars per liter due to higher oil prices, and electricity could cost 3.4 percent more. Last week, the Serbian government announced that the PCR test will become fifty percent more expensive from January 1, 2021, that is, instead of the current six thousand dinars, in the future it will be necessary to pay nine thousand dinars (24 thousand florins). In January, the prices of tobacco and cigarettes will also rise, by ten dinars a box.
And that’s not all, because not only the state increases fees and charges, but also financial institutions. Account management at some banks will be 190 dinars from March instead of 160 dinars today. Anyone who also requests notification of banking transactions via SMS will be forced to pay 100 per month for the service instead of the current 70 dinars. Anyone who loses their card will have to pay 500 but not 500 dinars from March, and some banks will also pay the balance check: for which they have not had to pay anything so far, it will cost 40 dinars from the third month of the year .
