The players sympathize with the Hungarian forward sent from the team.

Mainz’s team in the German Bundesliga refused to participate in training on Wednesday afternoon to express solidarity with Adam Szalai, who was recently fired from the club, writes Bild.

With the action, the partners want the club to withdraw Monday’s statement that they do not expect the national team to strike in the future.

Bild said the 32-year-old legionnaire showed up at the association’s training center this morning, but since he couldn’t train with the others, he practiced alone.

Sporting director Rouven Schröder said two days ago that Szalai is not in his professional plans and “it is unlikely that this season he will have the playing time he expects.” He added that for the attacker, a change of club could be the solution.

However, according to German press reports, the Hungarian forward has to leave due to a pay dispute.

Szalai returned to his old association, Mainz, last summer, in which, however, he did not become a basic man. Head coach Achim Beierlorzer didn’t even frame him for the first round of the new Bundesliga season last week.
