European Super Cup – 2,100 Bayern fans would travel to Budapest

Munich, Sunday 20 September 2020 (MTI / dpa) – About 2,100 fans want to accompany the Bayern Munich soccer team to Budapest for Thursday’s European Super Cup match against Seville.

The current problem was reported by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, president of the Bavarian club, on Sky TV on Sunday.

“The drukkers must have a negative coronavirus test,” stressed the director of the winning association of the Champions League. Team supporters can register at the club’s expense on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick disagrees with the match after the Robert Koch National Institute of Public Health classified Hungary as an epidemiological risk zone.

“This is also something that one does not fully understand. But we are not the ones who make the decisions, but others,” the expert referred to the European Football Association (UEFA).

The European Super Cup match starts on Thursday at 9:00 p.m. between Bayern Munich and Sevilla FC, winner of the Europa League. This will be the first meeting in UEFA’s competition system to be observed since the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic. Thirty percent of the capacity of the Puskás Arena auditorium can have fans, which means 20,000 spectators. UEFA provided both teams with 3,000 tickets, and the opportunity to purchase the remaining tickets was obtained from the tens of thousands of applications received. Sevilla canceled 2,500 tickets and announced that only 500 fans would accompany the team to Budapest.
