Just a month and a half after applying, a 73-year-old woman from Fót received a one-time HUF 50 award from the state. According to the Hungarian State Treasury and the pension expert, this could not have happened officially.

A month and a half ago, due to large price increases, a 73-year-old woman from Fót applied for a one-time assistance from the state, which, according to the notification, ended up receiving only 50 florins. At first he thought something had been written, but when he took care of the amount it turned out that he did not – he read on atv.hu

The woman’s husband passed away years ago, for which she receives 91,000 florins together with her widow’s pension. According to ATV News, he cleaned in a mall before the epidemic and now works in an office building at night. The ATV retiree felt fortunate that his medications were inexpensive and that he still had the strength to act and work.

There is no such thing

ATV Híradó contacted the Hungarian State Treasury regarding the case, where they replied that the minimum amount of the one-time allowance was 15,000 HUF, so that the retiree could not receive 50 HUF. Contact your competent body to which you have submitted your application.

Speaking to ATV, András Farkas, a pension expert, found the situation strange, as the person in question did not receive adequate information about the exact title in which he received the 50 HUF. The check should have been preceded by a notice of the disbursement and the basis on which the awarded amount was received, the expert explained.

Tight frames

According to the president of the National Association of Retirees, the subsistence minimum is about 80,000 florins, and currently 700,000 elderly people live below it. The association drew attention to the fact that the amount set aside for capital-based pensions is extremely low and has not changed for years, although this part of the budget could provide an opportunity to help retirees in need.

According to György Némethné Jankovics, of the 53,000 people who applied, some 33,000 received the increase in their equity pension, which means an average of HUF 3,700 per month.
