According to János Szlávik, chief physician at South Pest Central Hospital, people are undisciplined, especially young people who are now spreading the virus, but pose a great danger to the elderly. Restrictions are needed because fall is approaching when respiratory illnesses are common and it will be difficult to distinguish colds from coronavirus.

“It’s interesting that people wear the mask at the mall and then go to a party like there’s nothing,” János Slavik said on the ATV Start program.

The infectologist was asked if 459 new coronavirus infections had been registered in the last 24 hours, according to data from Friday morning. According to the expert, the problem is that the virus has been introduced from abroad, but it is already here, the disease is spreading in the community.

The average age of those now infected is 30 years, but no one can seriously think that it will only remain among the young, it can be spread to the elderly, explained the infectologist in the program. Whoever says that it is a serious problem that many people do not defend themselves adequately indoors is the reason why the number of infected is increasing at such a rate.

Epidemiological authorities can propose austerity measures, which should be implemented by the government, Slavik considers possible that there are austerity measures. In this regard, however, he also said that measures such as the spring cannot be taken.

The expert also talks about the fact that the number of respiratory infections always increases in the autumn, which will make it difficult to distinguish the new coronavirus from the flu or the common cold. Therefore, it is advisable to get a flu vaccine.

According to Slavik, it is not good to talk that here is the second wave, rather there are phases: the first was the preparation, the second was the slowdown and the third phase will be the defeat of the virus. The latter requires vaccination.

In his radio interview on Friday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also spoke of austerity because the virus is already here. These will also be discussed at the weekly government meeting, so new restrictions or relaxations may be announced as early as the weekend.
